Each commission begins with a conversation. A garment does not begin with cloth, but with intention.
The First Appointment
The process opens with a private consultation at the PETAR atelier in Chelsea.
Occasion, silhouette, proportion and cloth are considered carefully. Measurements are taken. An initial direction begins to take shape.
This stage is unhurried. It is about understanding not only the garment, but the person who will inhabit it.
The Cut
Each piece is individually drafted and cut by hand in England.
Patterns are created exclusively for the client — never adapted, never standardised. Balance and structure are resolved at the cutting table, where the first true decisions are made.
The cut defines the line.
The line defines the garment.
The Toile
Before the final cloth is touched, a toile is created — a prototype in cotton that establishes form and proportion.
Seen on the body, adjustments are made with precision. Length is reconsidered. Volume is softened or sharpened. The silhouette begins to settle.
This stage ensures the garment belongs entirely to its wearer — not simply in fit, but in presence.
The Fittings
Once the toile has been approved, the garment is cut in the chosen fabric and revealed in its true cloth for the first time.
There is a quiet shift at this stage.
Fit, balance and movement are refined gradually through successive fittings. Structure is corrected. Line is clarified. The garment comes into its own.
Nothing is hurried.
Everything is considered.
The Making
Construction is completed in England using traditional dressmaking and tailoring techniques.
Where possible, British and European suppliers are selected for cloth, components and finishing — materials chosen for integrity and longevity.
Each piece is produced as a singular commission.
Completion
The finished garment is presented privately at the atelier.
Timelines vary depending on complexity, though most commissions require several weeks from initial consultation to completion.
The result is not simply made to measure.
It is made to belong.
